Winter Memories

This is a surprise picture for a friend I've known since second grade. Her older sister asked if her friends would draw pictures and/or write down our favorite memories for her, so she could make a surprise book. So I decided to do both! ^w^

My most favorite memory happened way back in 1987, when the two of us spent the day sledding down a little hill behind her dad's mechanic shop. The snow had made this little drift up the side of the building, so we'd slide down the hill on this old saucer sled and back up the wall via the drift. It was so much fun! We must have been out there for a couple of hours at least and were frozen solid by the time I had to go home. Heheh. Good times! ^w^

The shading really drove me crazy on this and I'm still not satisfied...the sled looks really weird, but that was the best I could come up with without any good references. Ugh.

I do like the background though...it's not much, but at least it's there and it has kind of a soft feeling to it, like real snow. Or at least that's what I like to think.
